Did they tell you you were only allowed this much? When your beliefs about yourself are determined by another persons Ego and restrictions, what do you do?
You may be able to access a picture in your memory when you can go back to a time in your past when you were told about your abilities and potential. This could still affect your ego today in a way you may not realise. Some of us are fortunate to be given a balanced positive view of ourselves which we carry with us into adulthood, but some of us did not receive such reassurance and this can result in blame, shame or being stuck. What can you do about it?
Ego can be affected by being told something by a parent or other major authority figure from a young age. This can result in splitting off of parts of ourselves that we may think we do not like and cuts down our energy to achieve goals, so we incorrectly believe things about our ability and potential.
When we go against this grain we may experience a feeling of guilt, even when we understand and accept the process intellectually. We won’t allow ourselves to feel good just in case something bad happens. The transition occurs when we recognise we deserve our success and it is safe for us to be successful.
Initially, It may make you mad and put you right back to where you were as a kid. Anger and frustration and pain. Your own beliefs about what has blocked you and what it means was caused the resistance to making steps towards your goals. Being present with the things that caused this resistance energy helps you feel it and move through it to a far more comfortable reality now.
Write it down. When you identify what was blocking you and name it, it loses its power over you. Be compassionate and loving to yourself, you don’t have to do this alone. We can work on this together.
